My Husband is my Teacher of Love

We discover where love does not flow. . . . where we won’t let it in and we won’t let it out.  We slam into the beliefs that limit us, and we sometimes hurt the people we love the most.  Sounds awful, doesn’t it?  Why would anyone even enter into a relationship?  And yet, if we can just learn to trust the process, we realize that even the most awkward, angry, difficult times lead us through the maze of confusion and back to love. . . more love than we ever imagined.

Relationship is alchemic. . . a trial by fire that heats us up and melts us down until the baser parts of our selves disappear and we are upgraded.  We become more of ourselves.  By being required to love every minute of every day, we are transformed.  To our great joy and delight, we discover that being fully authentic leads not to divorce but to a depth of closeness that the poets can only point toward.  Isn’t it amazing that often the thoughts and feelings we were most afraid of. . .most ashamed of. . . lead us into true integration.  What sacred, fertile ground.  There really is a different way to live. . . a different way to be in partnership where we become advocates for our own and one another’s divine-humanity.
