In case you want to know more about what makes us tick, here is a resume / timeline of our lives together.
I’ll begin by saying that when we were both twenty-eight years old, we made a vow to ourselves, one another and the Divine, to never again make a living by selling our souls… or our energy. We agreed to do only that work which made a difference to the world... work of service that lit us up. That was forty-two years ago and we have been so magnificently supported by Source since then.

CHILDREN
From the beginning of our marriage, children have been our focus. I was a teacher with a double degree in Education and Psychology. My husband, Joe had just returned from duty as a combat photographer in Viet Nam. Consequently, both of us felt a strong desire to love the world in such a powerful way that there would be more peace and less war. And so we began to adopt special-needs children - seventeen very, very special, truly amazing children.
All during the twenty-two years of raising the children, we were also teaching workshops on parenting, relationship, and healing abuse. The governor of Oregon asked us to be the advisor/advocates for fetal drug children for Oregon’s Council for Kids. Unfortunately, we were moving out of the state, but we still was able to guide much of the development of their Council.

I was a teacher for Donna and Joe’s adopted children. A child who has been as severely abused as these were will test one’s skills. These did. But I watched, and then as I learned, I joined Donna and Joseph in applying their creativity and insistent loving techniques and saw the power of love turn a temper tantrum into an opportunity for constructively channeling anger, turn a scared child into one who would always reach out to another child to comfort and support, to transform rock bottom self-esteem into self- confidence and joy. |

TEACHING
After our children took flight, we were overflowing with extra love and wisdom. We needed somewhere to put all that passion and information. Our children had taught us so much about what children (and adults) need not only to survive but to thrive.
And so, we began to travel. I had already taught all over Europe and Canada as well as the US so many people were asking us to come to their area to teach workshops such as…

And so, we began to travel. I had already taught all over Europe and Canada as well as the US so many people were asking us to come to their area to teach workshops such as…
- Teaching Professionals... guiding adoption workers, medical and psychiatric professionals to be with special-needs children. We also worked with adults recovering from their own childhood abuse.
- Parenting... parenting classes, workshops and camps
- Family dynamics… especially anger management and impulse control.
- Disabilities... supporting clients with disabilities. This was a subject very close to our hearts as both of us are disabled.
- Death... families dealing with death of children or parents.
- Functional spirituality… Identifying the Source that nourishes us and drawing from that Source so that we can take care of self and give our gifts to the world.
Parenting really is the fast track to God… both because of the utter sweetness and the utterly impossible task of staying completely present and non-reactive to children’s simultaneous profound pain and wild joy. RADIANCE CENTER
LIVING TO LOVE AND LOVING TO LIVE
We moved to Maui thinking that it was time to retire. But it doesn’t take long for people to gather when they are hungry… when they have been starving for true connection.
Our original intent was simply to offer classes and workshops because more people were asking for love than we could attend to personally. But very quickly we became so much more.
We became family. We became community. We became the witness to one another’s lives. And of course that led to becoming more of ourselves - supporting each other to live lives of joy and meaning, purpose and passion.
Now Radiance has automatically and inevitably rippled out - changing our relationships, our communities, and our world. Now we have members of the Radiance Center all over the globe.
And we grew - not just in numbers but also in the strength of our spirits. Our current home can no longer contain us as our love-in-action can no longer fit into this small, limited physical space. However, we have found the home that can hold all of this and more. We are so, so ready to expand to the next stage of this LOVING TO LIVE AND LIVING TO LOVE.

SCHOOL OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Long ago, when I was upset about one more war, I went running into my apple orchard and prayed, “What can I do to make a better world?” The inspiration came back so clearly. “You can be living proof that there is a different way to live.”
From that moment on, I have lived and taught that there is a different way to live, to create income, to be in relationship, and a different way to teach.
My solution was to create The School of Unconditional Love.
From SOUL I could model a new way to live. I could teach a grounded and practical spirituality that elevates and deepens every aspect of our lives… no matter what religion, no matter what culture or what color of our skin.
It had long been my burning desire to create an environment where our bodies and our minds express a synthesis of our shining spirits, our vital bodies, our radiant minds.… where we could express our deep need to give and receive Love… It was time to learn a new way to live.
SOUL was a phenomenal success. That learning has now rippled out into the Radiance Center to such a degree that many of those students are now ready to take the Radiance Center to it’s next level.
